Finally, the Vivo IPL 2021 has just been finished with a thrilling final match played between Chennai Superkings v/s Kolkata Knight Riders on October 15, 2021, at Dubai International Stadium. Every team plays the IPL full of hopes and a winning attitude, however, only one of them could win the trophy. In this blog, we have covered the Final match of the Vivo IPL 2021 (CSK vs KKR).  

Eoin Morgan won the toss for Kolkata Kight Riders and decided to bowl first. Now, CSK had to set a good total in front of KKR to create pressure on them. Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad came into the ground to open for CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a lofted shot on the first over and sent the ball for a four. Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad started hitting some good shots taking CSK’s score to 50 till the 7th over. Sunil Narine took the first wicket or Kolkata Knight Riders. However, Gaikwad’s wicket did not affect CSK’s innings as Du Plessis and Robin Uthappa continued playing big shots and started accelerating CSK’s innings. Du Plessis completed his fifty in 35 balls on the 11th over of the innings. Till 12 the over CSK was able to put a score of 100 on the board. RU made 31 runs in just 15 balls which gave CSK’s innings a boost. After losing Robin Uthappa’s wicket Moeen Ali came into the increase and he did not disappoint CSK as he started playing big shots all over the ground.

Moeen Ali slammed two sixes on the 16 the over, on the other hand, Du Plessis played some big shots as well, leading CSK’s score to 172 till 18th over. With the help of Du Plessis and Moeen Ali, Chennai Super Kings were able to set a target of 193. Moeen Ali scored 37* in 20 balls while Du Plessis 86 in 59 balls. 

 

So, KKR needed 193 runs in 20 over and Shubman Gill and V Iyer were ready to fight back from KKR’s end. A catch was dropped by MS Dhoni on the 2nd over when Iyer was batting at 0(1). On the next ball, Iyer dispatched the ball for a six. He did not stop and started playing some huge shots all over the place. Iyer completed his fifty in 31 balls while Shubman Gill was batting at 27(25). Gill was caught by Raydu on the 10th over, however, it was declared dead ball by the umpire as the ball touched the rope casing an easy catch. Despite all of this, Chennai Super Kings broke KKR’s opening partnership in the 11th over when Jadeja took an amazing catch of Iyer. Nitish Rana did not even score a single run and was caught at a score of zero. However, Shubman Gill was still on the crease and completed his fifty in 40 balls, it was a sensible innings by Gill. After losing the initial wickets, KKR’s innings began to collapse in front of Chennai Super Kings. KKR lost its 6 wickets till the 15th over. No one was able to fight for KKR and CSK won this final match by a margin of 27 runs.
