It was a crucial match for both teams to qualify for the playoffs. Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first and their decision was right as they took the wicket of Subhman Gill who was batting at the score of 7 runs. However this was not the case, Venkatesh Iyer was still on the crease and he was looking in good touch.
He played some good shots all over the ground and had a crucial partnership with Rahul Tripathi. Rahul and Iyer drove KKR to a good position. Iyer completed his half-century in just 39 balls and helped KKR to set a target of 166 for PBKS. So Kings 11 Punjab needed to score 166 runs to win the match. Mayank Agarwal hit some lovely stokes all over the place, he was looking in good touch but unable to pull it further.
Nicholas Pooran also left the crease at the score of just 12 however KL Rahul was cool and calm throughout the innings and completed his half-century. Later PBKS had to make 5 runs in the last over to win the match but KL lost his wicket on the 2nd bowl of the over. Now, Shahrukh Khan was on the sticker end and he finishes the match with a six.
KL Rahul praised his team and said that the team has well-executed our strategy, we have played brilliantly and smartly. We were pretty defensive while bowling as the pitch was slow and it worked. Likewise, everyone knew his role in batting and did very well. KL Rahul also said that Shahrukh Khan has the potential to score with the strike rate of 170-180, he knows he can hit the bowl very well and that’s what he did in this match.
